Shep Johnson
Pastor

Job Title:
Pastor Responsibilities: As pastor my responsibility is to lead
First Baptist Church of Douglas in fulfilling her mission of
"Touching Families for Christ" through the proclamation of the
Gospel by word and example.
Vision for
"Touching Families for Christ":
The strength and health of our society depend on our families and
the strength and health of our families depend on our relationship
with God. First Baptist Church has a vision for building a better
community by "Touching Families for Christ" as we seek revival from
God and endeavor to glorify Him through evangelism and changed
lives. Integral in this process is prayer, repentance, holiness, and
obedience. We live in a day and time when the church looks too much
like the world. We need revival. Isaiah wrote, "For thus says the
high and exalted One Who lives forever, whose name is Holy, "I dwell
on a high and holy place, and also with the contrite and lowly of
spirit in order to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the
heart of the contrite." (Isaiah 57:15, NASB95) We long for a revival
of the heart and the church. When that revival comes our families
will experience the full and meaningful life which God has promised.
What you
like most about serving at First Baptist Church:
I love the people of First Baptist and I am amazed at the potential
this church has to be God's instrument for communicating the Gospel
to Douglas and Coffee County.
